Portrait Sitting with Francois

These are a few photographs from a portrait sitting I had with my Cousin Francois. It was quite cool since I haven't really had a proper sitting with someone in my family before. We also took some photos of him playing his guitar. This guy is young but he knows what he's doing once the guitar is plugged in and volume has been set to loud!

I used a super basic lighting setup using 1-2 lights and a normal umbrella to soften the main a little. . and a grey wall in the studio. :)

Reach for a Dream - Reach for your Slippers

If you have never heard of Reach for a Dream, its a national non-profit charity foundation that makes the dreams of kids with life threatening illnesses come to life! Looking behind the scenes in the Pretoria branch theres a team of people who put tons and tons of effort into making these kids' dreams come true. 

August last year, I had the honor  of working with them for a new yearly fundraiser which started in Durban in 2011. Its called the Reach for your Slippers campaign and it works a lot like a casual day but instead of wearing casual clothing you get to wear your favourite pair of slippers to work/school for the day, on the condition of buying a sticker for a mere 10 bucks.  No uncomfortable working shoes on that day. 

My job was to go around to a whole bunch of different schools and photographs the principles being silly in front of the camera with their slippers on to Rev up the pupils to take part in the event. Too much fun!! Nationally, the fundraiser was a huge success and now Reach for a Dream came make even more dreams come true in 2013.

Despite the success of the fundraiser, Reach for a Dream still needs your help. If you or your business wants to make a contribution to the organization go to their website, phone your local RFAD office and find out what you can do to help out!!

Adventures with elephants

Towards the end of 2012, Lio and I went on an elephant safari and elephant experience. And it was quite an experience indeed. Do you have any idea what an elephants tongue feels like? Or what elephant skin looks like up close? its crazy!

The farm is situated just outside Bela-Bela (Old Warm-baths) so its just a mini road-trip for Pretoria or Joburg! Oh yeah and they also have a feisty little meerkat that really likes old oomies! :) 

It's really worth giving this a go! 

   

Isocronous DVD launch

Hi everyone.

Isocronous had their live in Germany DVD launch a few weeks ago at the Atterbury theatre (on Lynwood road - which is ironic.) And I was there to take some photos. great gig. Thanks to vince for getting me in the door :)

Klipdrift Gold Iphoneography exhibition

Hey everyone.

I went on assignment for Klipdrift Gold to photograph an Iphoneography exhibition called Hashtag at the Lomography Embassy Store in Braamfontein about 2 weeks ago.
The man behind the Iphone is Roy Potterill and he took some sweet photos around the city to show that night.

Free Klipdrift Gold, An awesome Dj Niffty (he actually used records - non of this digital stuff), Loads of different individuals and some great Images on the walls to look at!

Just so we all know, I realize Im not the greatest writer. which is explains why Im not a writer, Im a photographer. So excuse the crappy writing. Enjoy the photos!

 

SP en Rina

Finally I have gotten around to sitting at the computer and writing a few of  these guys. Things have been going pretty hectic around here lately so today Im posting a few blogs to show you what Ive been up too.

A few weeks ago around Mothers day, I met up with a nice elderly couple. Sp en Rina. Or as I would say, Oom Sp en Tannie Rina. We shot around their house and I learned quite a bit about them, for instance Oom Sp owns a huge Motorcycle which they use to travel around the country with. too cool!

anyway, it was great to meet these two wonderful people as well as an honor to photograph them. heres  a couple of shots from that day :)
